Selected Resources for Grieving Parents, Their Families, Friends, and Other Caregivers
Introduction
The death of an infant or young child is a devastating tragedy for parents, family members, and other caretakers. A time of crisis follows which is typically very overwhelming and stressful. Sometimes, loved ones may experience a complicated grief process and need emotional support and resources for bereavement.
The accompanying list, developed by the National SIDS/Infant Death Resource Center (NSIDRC), provides information about selected publications, organizations, and other resources developed for bereaved parents and family members. In addition, there are resources for caregivers and professionals who work with parents. We have also divided special topics into categories such as materials for children and teens, religious books, Spanish resources, journal articles, and selected publishers.
Although this list is not exhaustive, it does include highly recommended materials contained in the NSIDRC collection. Experts in the field of grief and bereavement have made suggestions and we welcome information about additional resources. Every effort is made to ensure that the details for each entry are as correct as possible.
Please contact the NSIDRC staff at (866) 866-7437 or at sids@circlesolutions.com for further information or to provide comments.

Selected Electronic Resources on Grief and Bereavement
Numerous resources on parental grief and bereavement are now available electronically on the Internet. These electronic sources can provide a wealth of information and support to bereaved parents and families and those concerned about them at their time of loss.
Each resource provides different information. Some provide information on how and where to obtain publications and materials; others serve as pathways to additional sites on the subject; others provide listservs or chat rooms for ongoing communication among bereaved families. Because such sources change frequently and in some cases may even cease to exist, only names and URLs (uniform resource locators or online addresses) are provided in this list. The best way to find additional electronic information is to use the search engine or browser using the SEARCH or FIND feature, entering key words or phrases such as SIDS or Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, parental grief and bereavement, parents' grief, child death, infant loss, and so on. One site leads to another, and there is a vast array of valuable information available online.
Selected electronic resources that NSIDRC staff members have found to be helpful sources of information and referrals on parental grief and bereavement are listed below. We have included some international resources on this list because this is the easiest and least expensive way to access information.
