Pacifiers and SIDS: Reducing the risk, June 2006.

This bilingual (English and Spanish) risk reduction brochure is for parents and caregivers. It helps guide parents and caregivers on the safe and effective use of pacifiers. It outlines American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) guidelines for using a pacifier, addresses concerns on Otitus media, breastfeeding and dental malocclusions and the added benefits of using pacifiers.

Safe Sleep for Your Baby: What does a Safe Sleep Environment look like? (Tearpad of 50 Sheets), Jan 2006.

This tearpad (50 single sheets) is part of the Back to Sleep campaign, an effort to educate families and caregivers about putting healthy babies on their backs to sleep to help reduce the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). The single sheet explains ways parents and caregivers can reduce the risks of SIDS and shows what a safe sleep environment looks like.

This eight-panel brochure is part of the Back to Sleep campaign, an effort to educate families and caregivers about putting healthy infants on their backs to sleep to help reduce the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). In 2000, the NICHD and its partners in Back to Sleep worked with national African American organizations to design materials and messages about SIDS for African American families and communities, including this brochure. The brochure explains ways to reduce the risk of SIDS and provide a safe sleep environment for infants.
