The MCHB SUID/SIDS Resource Center Consortium

partnersOctober is SIDS Awareness month, and the U.S. Maternal and Child Health Bureau's SUID/SIDS Resource Center Consortium is here to support you in your work with Sudden Unexpected Infant Death (SUID), including Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and Suffocation.

If you are ever unsure of which center is the right fit for your need, you should contact the Resource Center at info@sidscenter.org or 1-866-866-7437 and you will be served or referred appropriately.

This resource center consortium is supported by cooperative agreements with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Health Resources and Services Administration, Maternal and Child Health Bureau.

Answer a research question that is not already answered on the www.sidscenter.org website.
Identify best practices in sudden infant death risk reduction; stay connected to the latest research (Journal Alert) and professional literature (MCH Alert)
Access archived webinars sponsored by the SUID/SIDS Consortium.
Access risk reduction and bereavement materials developed by other states and communities.
Pose a SUID-related question to other professionals who could share their experience and provide resources (SUID listserv). Project IMPACT
Be directly connected with colleagues in other states to share "lessons learned" about recommending and implementing SUID risk reduction programs and policies.
Receive technical assistance on how public institutions (state or local) can plan, implement and evaluate SUID risk reduction efforts.
Receive technical assistance on how community based organizations can plan, implement and evaluate SUID risk reduction efforts. Program Support Center
Identify strategies for incorporating bereavement support services into program recommendations and implementation.
Obtain train-the-trainer resources for professionals to incorporate SUID risk reduction into their practice. (i.e., health care providers, child care providers, pharmacists, public health professionals, community-based organization staff, etc.)
Identify ways to further integrate cultural and linguistic competence methods into your work. Project at the National Center for Cultural Competence
Improve the cultural and linguistic competence of your outreach efforts among specific racial or ethnic populations.
